We are really flexible with naps and bedtimes. I think it annoys our nanny. But our son (18mo) gets enough sleep, and I don't want to be beholden to a nap schedule on the weekends after we have been working hard all week.

If this seemed to have a detrimental effect on our toddler, then obviously we would make the necessary adjustments.

LO is 23 months and I used to be strict about bedtime but it did keep pushing later. For a while her bedtime was 7:15, then it was 7:30, then 7:45, then 8. Then when we moved a couple months ago, I stopped being strict on it because she didn't have to be up for daycare at a certain time. Thankfully (knock on all the wood) she sleeps 11 hours no matter when she goes to bed, which definitely did not used to be the case. So if she goes to bed at 9 she will usually sleep until 8. (Knockonwoodknockonwood.)

Her nap has pushed later too but I do try to have her down at 1pm if I can.

We're only flexible on the weekends IF we're doing something special. Like we visited my in-laws, so he ended up skipping his nap (and went to bed early because of it). And we've let him stay up late if we're sleeping over someone's house or a special occasion (like a wedding). But during the week, naps are strict (daycare) and bedtime is a set time because I need an hour to myself in the evening before my own bedtime!

I would say more flexible around 2.5, but actually flexible after age 3. Mostly because the repercussions of later bedtime are not as severe (he can deal better if he's cranky, etc). He stopped napping at 34 months so that's not a concern.

I feel like we've always been pretty flexible, though that's probably not exactly the case. At least since a year, if we're somewhere and he stays up a little later than normal, that's ok. We very rarely leave somewhere because we need to get home for bed. If we know ahead of time we'll be out a little late, we bring pjs to change him for the ride home.

I didn't get flexible with D until first grade, lol. But, he never argues about bedtime, so I didn't feel any pressure until last year to give him a later bedtime.

I can only be flexible with M. He laughs at schedules.

If we are somewhere he can stay up late. He is wild until his head hits the pillow and doesn't ever act sleepy. He doesn't sleep in though, so we may pay for it the next day.

He's 18 months and we took him to fireworks this July. He was up until 1030 and slept until 715 instead of 630. He did fine though!

He still needs a nap.

When LO turned 2, his naps went to crap. He would nap some days, but not others. Bedtime usually depends on if he's napped for the day. If he has napped, he can stay up pretty late. If there's no nap that day, we sometimes push our luck, but we like to have him in bed a little earlier. He'll be 3 next week!

Ds1 is 3 in November and this summer is the first that I've been more flexible abou his nighttime sleep. He's gone to bed past 9 several times and once past 10 for my brothers wedding. He just sleeps in later. His nap too will vary depending on his wake time, but he still sleeps the same amount.

Ds2 at two months is on a much more flex schedule for naps than ds1 was! He naps on the go all the time. His nighttime is pretty set though at 730/8!

LO is 16mo and we've always been super strict on nap and bedtimes. The only time she has ever purposefully been put down late was when we had an evening viewing (funeral) to go to for my grandmother. But she's been sleeping well lately (knock on wood) and she skipped her nap a few weeks ago and was actually pretty okay. So we're considering being more lax on it. Like not miss naps or bedtime for no good reason. But if there is something we really want to do.... probably not a big deal to be flexible occasionally.

We are pretty flexible on naps. I try to make sure they happen by 1:00 at least, just because we go to church on Sundays and don't get out until about 12:45. At school, she naps anywhere from 11:30-12:15. Bedtime is a little more strictly enforced, but only because she staggers around like a tiny drunk person when she's super tired and acts like a tiny tyrant.

I'll admit that I am pretty particular about her sleep schedule, but I'm really wanting to be a little more lax about it so we don't have to rush home so fast in the evenings or leave somewhere because she needs to take a nap. She will be three in November, and seems to be okay if her sleep isn't as regimented as it used to be, but she takes that to mean that she doesn't have to nap unless she wants to, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to drop the nap yet!

How flexible are you on bed times and nap times? Did LO survive? Ha.
