She's always been a side sleeper so I don't think too much about it. I have tried both before, and because she's not used to them she would end up waking herself up and messing with them. I give her blankets at naps sometimes and she would probably be ok with one at night but it seems unnecessary right now. It's also big enough that it stays on her even though she moves all over the place in the night. It washes really well and I have no doubts that it will last her into childhood. If your head is buried in it, you can still breathe. That was key for me since I gave one to DS so early (he never moved around much in his sleep when he was a baby, so I felt ok giving it to him at that age). I also really like the fact that it is 100% cotton, but thick, so it is easy to care for. I really like the design of the ones we have, each of my LOs has one. No pillow as he seems fine without it. He has almost 10 stuffed animals in there though. Started with one, but at one point he insisted they all come in the crib with him. When we moved here a year ago when she was 18 months she just used her baby afghan my grandmother gave her. She eventually ended up with a small pillow in there, and this summer she graduated to a big girl pillow when she got big girl sheets. I think I"ve put the afghan on her ever since she outgrew her snuggie at 4-6 months. No one ever told me she SHOULDN'T have a small blanket for warmth. And we do a light blanket in addition to her sleepsack.</p> <p>Oh &amp; I think I am going to order a memory foam topper for her mattress. Some crib mattresses have toddler sides that are softer but hers doesn't and it's so hard! </p>
