@PrincessBaby: we went to two around 6.5 I think? It got to where if he took a third one it was short and he was grumpy and went to bed an hour later. We roughly do 3 3 4 with an hour and a half naps.

Around 6 or 7 months. It happened naturally for us too. She just wouldn't go down for her first nap at the usual time so we extended it out an hour or 2. And somehow we ended up with 2 long naps.

Ok so yesterday was an epic fail. H got 2 crap naps. Then freakin refused to go to sleep for bedtime. It basically took an hour and a half- classic overtired symptoms. I didnt know about this 2, 3, 4 routine you guys spoke of so I looked into it and that's pretty much what happened today...Her first name was her usual 30-40 mins, but her 2nd was 1.5 hours. We did have a playdate this morning, so maybe that zapped her, but then we did 4 hours awake after that and are nursing to sleep now. She was basically asleep in 5 minutes but some jackhole started blowing his horn outside our window (I pray every day to wake up and be in our new house before I lose my sanity in this stupidass noisy condo on the main street of the city.), and woke her up.

Hopefully I get her tiny hiney in the crib very soon!!!

S cut out his 3rd nap around 5 months here. He was just not having it. And now at 9.5 months, he's really trying to cut out his 2nd nap. He sleeps great at night though...so maybe I just have a crappy napper??

About 7 months here too. Unless her two naps are really short (30 mins), then she will have three naps. Usually though, her morning naps are >1 hr and her second is 45 mins and she is good on those 2 naps for the day. Her awake time is 3-4 hours.

7 months-ish. They did it, not me. They wouldn't go down at their regular times, so longer awake times meant only two naps. They got longer, too. Well, mostly.

@TurtleDoves: Holy cow, he is a good napper!! DD is a month older but will take usually a 45 min to 1 hr nap around 1030/11 and a 30m nap around 4/430 if we're home.. And it is hard to get her to take those. She thinks like her mama, napping is boring!! Luckily she's a good night sleeper.

E hasn't yet and he will be 9m in 4 days.
I love his 3 naps!
I will say this much though, if he misses the 3rd one, he doesn't get fussy. He is fine. And when he does take it (90%), it is short and sweet, like 40mins. His other naps are 1.5-2h each.

His awake time is 1.5h except between his last nap and bedtime, where it is 2h.

Right around 7 months...I just decided to stretch his awake time before his first nap to 2 hours. We started following a 2-3-4 schedule like @Weagle. It worked really well for about a month, month and a half. Now, we either do that or we'll try to throw in a late cat nap, because w'eve found that the nights he goes to bed later he sleeps later in the morning!

C has started only taking two naps a day at daycare in the last couple of weeks. They have been about an hour each.

At home, I can keep things quiet and dark and put her in the swing so her naps at home are at least an hour but usually 2-3 hours each.
