I'd say around 6m, when they start sitting up on their own. It definitely takes awhile.

4 months-ish (once she started taking three decent, relatively scheduled naps per day instead of random on demand ones).... this also coincided with better night sleep and better self soothing (aka she found her thumb....best day ever!)

Around 8/10 weeks things got a bit easier, because that's when my toddler stopped acting out quite so much. I honestly have not found the baby herself to be so much work, it's really the effect that the baby has had on the toddler and the necessary schedule/lifestyle changes of having another baby in the house (not being able to be loud while she's napping, learning to be gentle with her, sharing his time with her). Sickness plus solo parenting at night is definitely hard, so I think you have been definitely given a hard hand so far!!

I think a spring baby behooved us here, because T didn't really get sick until recently, but holy hell, does it jack things up!!! Things got infinitely easier once we were down to about one wake up a night, around 5 months old maybe? Maybe 6? Winter is almost over!

It got easier around two months. I had PPA last time and was panic stricken about a small measles outbreak in my city. I don't think I managed to leave to house half a dozen times the first month.
Now with three, I'm feeling totally normal already at not quite four weeks, even though the baby has already had a cold and we've only had three days of good health.
Part of it has to do with the weather too. I was snowed in a lot last year, but this year the weather has been mild and I've gotten a lot of fresh air.

@Foodnerd81: oh we still have those days too- it's def harder in the winter time! seriously though, if the kids are alive at the end of the day, you are doing great. try to go easy on yourself, things will eventually fall into place and feel more normal, esp when spring and summer get here and there is more to do!

My second was born Jan 21st and my daughter was 16 months old. It was HARD but it got a lo better around the 3 month mark, which probably had to do with less sickness and more sunshine.

Not until LO2 was on a good schedule...maybe 9 months? I really struggled the first 6 months and it gradually got better from there. DS1 also had a really hard time (age 2.5-3....which coincided plus he gave up his nap!). I hate being home all day and so we did tend to push the envelope in terms of getting out and about. Once DS2 turned 1, it became a lot easier too. I know that's a long ways a way, but hang in there!

@Ginabean3: LO 2 is actually so much easier than the LO1 was at this age, which is a life saver I guess (so far and I am counting my blessings). But yeah the toddler has definitely been needier, of course.

@2littlepumpkins: exactly. The sick is just making it so hard.

@NovBaby1112: if by "great" you mean my toddler watched 4 hours of Daniel Tiger today... Then I'm nailing it. If we could stop getting sick and start going out to activities again that would help a lot. Now we are just stuck in the house for days at a time. But yes, normalish is what I am going for.

For me, it JUST started getting easier....#2 is now 6 months and she seems to have turned a corner. She was very clingy and attached but I think being able to sit up (mostly) unassisted was a game changer for her. She can really see everything that's going on now and loves to watch her big sister play. Big sister is also more accustomed to the little one now and isn't as jealous/needy anymore.

Hugs! It will get better! I feel like I cried daily for the first 3 months, it was so hard for me!

I remember asking myself the same question in the early weeks, wondering when it was going to feel "normalish". I think right around 10 weeks things got easier juggling 2, we got into more of a routine, and things just feel into place more. It's still super hard some days still at 4 months, but its way more manageable. Hang in there, I am sure you are doing great!

Do you ever? I'm just kidding! Some days when I'm solo I still get very frustrated very easily. But I think it's less do to with 2 and more with me.

The baby is 7 weeks old and I just still feel like I'm struggling to get through every day. It doesn't help that we have been battling illnesses since before the baby was even born, most recently a stomach bug for the toddler that has us house bound, trying to keep the germs apart, while I'm starting to feel queasy and the baby has a cold that's waking her up at night. None of it is so horrible, it's just a lot at once on top of adjusting to staying home with two kids. Plus DH works late most nights so I do the dinner/ teeth/ bedtime circus alone.

So... When did you feel like you settled into a routine or new normal? Please send healthy vibes this way.
