She also had me pumping a lot from the very beginning to get my supply going and to build up a really good freezer stash before going back to work. At 4 months now I still give him one 1 oz. bottle (of formula) after I nurse him for the last before bed time. In my mind it's suppose to help him sleep a little longer. I probably don't need to but want him to get used to a nipple besides mine. :)</p> <p>My recommendation is to stick to a newborn or stage 1 type of nipple so it's harder to suck. That way he still works almost the same way for that nipple as he does yours. And no nipple confusion! Her milk took some time to come in so she introduced a bottle right away so she could supplement with formula. When her milk did come in her LO had NO issues breastfeeding. I wasn't prepared for that so I didn't do my research and just used drop in bottles, so she quickly got lazy and didn't want to breastfeed anymore. This sounds like a fine plan to me, if it wasn't for the fact that he is only 10 days old. I wonder if it is too early for this? He's breastfeeding just fine in my opinion, but I'm slightly hesitant. It might be a silly reason, but I'm afraid he'll get too gassy from the bottle! And, I haven't investigated whether we have the right nipple flow for his bottle yet. I do of course plan to introduce a bottle to him, but just wondering if it's too soon! When did you introduce a bottle to your LO? Was it too soon? Did it affect your breastfeeding? </p>
