I wish listed one for LO's 1st birthday and we received it as a gift. I have no expectations for her to understand yet, but I do try to sit her down on it while I use the toilet to get the concept (and just so she'll stay still for a minute!) Eventually, I will slowly do diaper-free time and just try to get her comfortable with it. I hear so many parents whose LOs are "scared" of the toilet and flushing, so I plan to just get her okay with those things. But I will have little expectations this year.

@Mrs. Lion: Yes, take advantage of his interest! We sat him on the potty really early, a few months old, but I think bought small pottys around 12-13 mos because of bad diaper rash so we were doing lots of diaper free time. By 17 mos he was holding it for 1-2 hours at a time so as long as we remembered to bring him to the bathroom frequently enough, he didn't need diapers and had few accidents at home. I think that if you start this early you just have to accept that it is a long process and not the 2-3 day plan that seems to happen to some kids when they potty train at 3 years old or so. DS is now 2 years 3 mos and pretty much potty trained although we have never pushed it and he still does sleep in diapers which we aren't worried about.

We bought one around 15 months because he always pooped in the morning. The first three days he pooped in it but had no idea what was going on. After that, he refused to have anything to do with it. We didn't introduce it again until about 26 months and potty trained at 30 months.

I bought one today. LO is almost 13 months. It seems so early but lo is obsessed with the toilets in our house so i figured i would capitalize on that. Not sure if i should teach him how to use it yet.... But it "flushes" and sings to him, and since we literally have no electronic toys in our house i have a feeling it will be a hit! Any experience with early potty "learning"?
