She's 6.5 months, and I've been letting her for about a month now. it took me awhile to let her overnight, but she is definitely one of those kids that I think needs to feel secure with a blanket. We do have a couple of trips planned for the summer and love to travel in general. He really loves to snuggle his lovey and he developed a major attachment to it when we were traveling last month. He rarely wakes in the middle of the night but last month he woke up 3 times and screamed bloody murder because he couldn't find his lovey. As soon as I gave it back to him he calmed down and fell right back asleep. I do worry that he'll never be able to sleep without this lovey but it's considered a positive sleep association so I will try not to worry about it too much now!</p> <p>I also hear you about the backup lovey. I just can't seem to find a second one that is the exact same as the one he loves. So I totally recommend starting with something you already have 2 of! Another recommendation is to have K snuggle with a lovey while you're nursing her. I would love to have her have a sleep cue eventually! I thought they were something mor for just soothing and comfort only. </p> <p>Makes sense you can't control what they choose. It would be nice if it is something we could get at least a backup for, but looks like we still have some time if she's even going to want a lovey or not. It's a major sleep cue for him and he needs to snuggle it to fall asleep. </p> <p>I've tried introducing other loveys because we only have one of his favourites but he tosses them aside. I'm probably going to get her an A&amp;A lovey soon...</p> <p>I usually let my LO sleep with a A&amp;A blanket that's partially tucked under the mattress. It seems breathable enough and she loves feeling it...I can definitely tell she is more relaxed/secure with a blanket to feel. She also loves her sleep sheep. I usually let her nap with it since I'm watching her on the monitor (and she wears a Snuza alarm, just in case)... she sleeps with her arm around it and sort of pets it... it's very cute. She will stop crying if I put it in bed with her!</p> <p>Maybe she's more into blankets/sleep sheep because she never took a paci? </p> <p>Here's a picture from when she was napping the the pack-n-play one day. So we use an a&amp;a security blanket and he really seems to like it. I started by holding it by his face when I nursed him and then put it in his hands in the crib. I always kept one in the diaper bag as an 'on the go' toy and one in her crib once she had graduated to the sleep sack. She now has both of them in bed with her (that's mostly where they stay) and in the morning when she wakes up she turns on her aquarium and plays with Ellen the Elephant. When she's ready for us she tosses Ellen to the floor and squaks for us to get her.
