It helped teach him how to suck and swallow. Then more hardcore maybe around 8 weeks? Once we could be sure he wasn't cluster feeding anymore. (We ok'ed it with the nurses beforehand). They both breastfed with no major problems, and the pacifier definitely helped soothe them. She wanted us to wait until we had no latch issues for four weeks before we introduced it. The nurses gave her one. We were at a very baby-friendly hospital with lactation consultants,etc. introducing it so early didn't give us any issues.
