I pulled the bottles at 6 months and gave them straw cups and have never looked back. So many of my friends are struggling with figuring out how to ditch the bottle. I did it in one week, my nanny was worried they wouldn't drink enough but I just hid the bottles from her and the twins.

Introduced the zoli cup at 6 months. Took a few tries for LO to actually drink through the straw (and only when he was thirsty after a rice cracker). I also attempt to give LO water with a regular cup (I hold it). I skipped the sippy with LO1 and will again for LO2. Daycare discourages them.

I will give him water in a Zoli when he has dinner. He's also fascinated by water in cups and my LC recommended we start a cup early bc of his bottle refusal. So around 5.5 months. He only gets a sip or two from it and I usually help him somewhat but he likes to play with it.

We let DS try water out of our open glass at 5 months and bought him a Munchkin straw cup at 6 months. We never introduced a sippy cup.

I think around 6m when we started solids I gave him a sippy of water. I just kind of let him play with it and try to drink it. It was warm out so I didn't care if he got a little wet. Then a month or 2 later we introduced drinking from a straw and he figured it out pretty quickly. But from what I've tried all the no spill ones are really difficult to get stuff out of and then he just plays with it or gets frustrated instead of drinking anything.

I introduced a straw cup of water at 5.5 months, the same time I introduced food. I am not sure when LO was getting a significant amount out of the straw cup, maybe around 9 months. I like the thinkbaby straw cup for water.

6 months with the Zoli cup here too. Took him 2-3 times to get it. He was completely weaned off the bottle by 11 months, and he didn't miss it at all.

I think 6 months is a fine time to start. We started when we started solids (around 6.5 months) but honestly we haven't been that diligent about it and she hasn't gotten the hang of it. We would like to skip sippy and move straight to straw/regular cup. We have take 'n toss for straw cups since they seem relatively easy to use (but aren't spill proof and we haven't tried them yet) and we have sassy grow up cups, which we give her but she hasn't figure it out yet.

The no spill straw cups are incredibly hard to suck out of - we have a nuby one and I can barely get anything out!

My ped had us start little sips of water out of a shot glass at 4 months, tastes of solids at 5 months (just a lick off a finger), and feeding solids at 6 months. The water sips helped him figure out how to get food/liquids in without sucking them all the way in (if that makes sense).

He also never took a bottle.

We started DD around 6 months with an open cup (that we held). Now at 10 months she can drink out of it really well without spilling too much, although I still hold it for her. I just started the straw cup last week, but she only figured out how to really use it today...it takes some practice! Our straw cup is the Zoli. It has only been a week, but I'm happy with it so far.

LO is fascinated with water in cups If there is water near her, without fail, she wants to drink it. She is EBF and will be 6 months old on Friday. Is this too early to introduce her to a sippy or straw cup? She seems interested, so I figured it might be time.

Also, any recommendations for ones that don't leak?
