So many of my friends are struggling with figuring out how to ditch the bottle. Took a few tries for LO to actually drink through the straw (and only when he was thirsty after a rice cracker). I also attempt to give LO water with a regular cup (I hold it). I skipped the sippy with LO1 and will again for LO2. I just kind of let him play with it and try to drink it. It was warm out so I didn't care if he got a little wet. Then a month or 2 later we introduced drinking from a straw and he figured it out pretty quickly. I am not sure when LO was getting a significant amount out of the straw cup, maybe around 9 months. We started when we started solids (around 6.5 months) but honestly we haven't been that diligent about it and she hasn't gotten the hang of it. We would like to skip sippy and move straight to straw/regular cup. Now at 10 months she can drink out of it really well without spilling too much, although I still hold it for her. I just started the straw cup last week, but she only figured out how to really use it today...it takes some practice! Our straw cup is the Zoli. She seems interested, so I figured it might be time.</p> <p>Also, any recommendations for ones that don't leak? </p>
