From 9 months on LO was on a schedule that looks like this:

5-7am: Nurse
8am: Breakfast (usually toast cut into 9 pieces)
9:30am: Snack (fresh fruit)
11:30am: Lunch (veggies, carbs and sometimes meat)
15pm: Snack (in the old days a glass of pureed fruit now often either fresh fruit or something to dip)
6pm: Dinner (oatmeal or tablefoods)
6:45pm: Bedtime nurse

I offer water in a sippy cup at every meal and it is accessible to him all throughout the day (also at daycare).

Until 10.5m we had a MOTN nursing session at around midnight.

Now at 13/14m the schedule is pretty much the same but he is now also getting a bottle of un-homogenized WCM with breakfast and (after) dinner because he is weaning.

I introduced morning snack at 7 months.
At 9 months, I removed her lunchtime bottle.

Her schedule now looks like
7.30am - Breakfast (porridge and 200ml milk in a bottle)
10am - Snack (toast/crumpet with 200ml milk in a bottle)
12.00 - Lunch (solids and water in a sippy)
3pm - Dinner (solids)
3.30pm - Afternoon bottle (200ml)
5.30pm - Bedtime bottle
6pm - Bed.

The next stage, I guess, will be replacing one of her bottles with a sippy cup; I'm thinking her morning snack bottle first.

LO is 11.5 months and just starting daycare. I haven't given him snacks yet because I nurse him between meals, so I consider that his "snack". At daycare they offer him a snack in the morning 9:30am or so) and around 3 or 3:30pm after his nap.

So far I mainly offer water in a straw cup with meals and throughout the day. I tried offering cow's milk in a straw cup but he's not interested so I'm not pushing it. He still nurses at least 3-4x/day plus he eats cheese, cottage cheese, and yoghurt.

We didn't do a snack until maybe 10 months, starting with an afternoon snack. We started because she was starving an hour before dinner time and totally melting down. I think I added a regular morning snack maybe 6 weeks later for the same reason.

I'm not trying to wean, but starting at age one we gave my EBF daughter a little cows milk in either a regular cup or a straw cup and she was fine with it. She loves it, actually. I only give it to her as an occasional snack or if I'm away for bedtime my husband gives her some warmed up.

@Adira: well I was thinking of not offering a whole lot of actual food during the snack so she would be possibly more apt to take milk from a cup...

@Mrs. Sunshine: She prefers them to a traditional sip cup, surprisingly enough! We got her first straw cup for Easter; it took about a week, but I continuously offered and modeled how to do it (not sure that helped, lol), and she eventually got the hang of it. :)

@deerylou: she can drink from a straw? I'm impressed. LO is 8.5 months right now (I'm just asking about snacks because I thought maybe she would want one around 9 ish months...) & straws confuse the crap.out of her lol

In the last couple of weeks (ten months). I actually let her determine the schedule, right now. It helps us work on her signs. I keep a shallow basket on the coffee table, with her straw cup of water, puffs, and dried fruit. If she grabs a bag, I give her one or two pieces. A good amount of the time, she's satisfied, and crawls away, but when she sticks around, grabs the bag again, or signs "eat", I sit her down, and offer a handful, or break out a refriderated snack (cheese, snap peas, etc). She usually shows interest in a snack between lunch and dinner. As she gets older, I'll probably remove the visible snacks, and wait for requests, or implement a loose schedule.

Xander's in daycare so he was taking bottles during the day, so I basically introduced milk in a cup by replacing bottles with a cup (one bottle a week).

During the weekends, I would give him a cup of milk instead of nursing. I didn't give it with food, though you could. Xander generally doesn't drink a lot when eating though - he always drinks more milk between meals.

As far as snacks, I never formally introduced them, but he started getting them at daycare after 12 months. He's 15 months now and always has an afternoon snack (he usually has lunch at 11:30, a snack between 2:30 and 4:00, and dinner at 5:30).

How old was your LO when you started giving them a snack? Did you do a morning or an afternoon snack? If you planned on weaning at 1 but so far only offered water in a cup, would you say introducing breast milk in a cup with the introduction of a snack would be a good way to getting them used to having some type of milk in a cup?
