I've done turkey and chicken. I only buy the boar's head brand from the deli counter and usually low sodium chicken or turkey. i have it sliced thick and cut it into cubes. We started when LO was about 8.5 months.

We also started giving deli meats around 10 months. We stick to turkey and buffalo chicken for the most part but he loves cheese the most! I would say he gets that for lunch probably 3-4 times a week and the other days he gets dinner leftovers.

I've been giving the turkey out of my sandwiches since around 10 months (I also got the pediatrician all clear for peanut butter at that time too). I've never really worried about sodium as most things I feed him are on the lesser processed side, and we only do the turkey 2-3 times a week at lunch. I figure turkey would have less salt than pork and is one of the leaner meats.

Bumping for my own curiosity. LO is 18 months, I have avoided to date because of high sodium, but am curious what others have done.

LO is 9 months old and I'm having a hard time coming up with new ideas for his lunches. For dinner he eats what we eat but at lunch I usually just have a turkey sandwich or PB&J. Obvi, the PB&J is not an option but when is it ok to give LOs deli meats?

If I were to give him some it would be 1-2 times a week, max. I would buy Applegate Farm brand if anyone is familiar with that.
