DD is allergic to peanuts and corn (odd, I know). We didn't introduce peanuts until later - around 13 months. Everything else we had introduced after a year, slowly.

Side question - any mommas with LOs that have allergies, did you do anything different for #2? Since I know DD is allergic to peanuts I should wait to introduce that. OR do I introduce earlier since the new studies say you should introduce high allergen foods early to avoid allergies? So much conflicting info...

We have been waiting to introduce nuts and shellfish.
I am already scared since she's had a skin reaction when she's breastfed after I eat shellfish. She's nearly 17 months.

we did eggs pretty early on..7 months? pb sandwich at 13 months? he's been on almond milk since we weaned as well.

haven't tried fish, or shellfish. will try shrimp soon. pedi also suggested that there's no benefit to waiting unless there's family history, so we're not too conservative.

The LC told me to introduce absolutely everything (unless there is a family history of an allergen) before 12 months except honey.

We did nuts around 14 months. Shellfish we'll be waiting a very long time on since there are a lot of allergies to it in my family... At 26 I've still never had it!! I just pretend I'm allergic since I don't know. I have no desire to try it.

Eggs at 6.5 months, peanut butter at 10 months (not intentionally, he managed to get my PB sandwich), and honey after 12 months. No shellfish yet (he's had fish), because I don't eat it and don't cook it. I should probably ask D to order shrimp or something next time we're out and let him try some.

@heartonastring: yeah, that research is leading me to want her to try peanuts, etc. asap.... however, I have read stuff both ways. Our ped thought 1 year was a good compromise, but I can understand wanting to introduce it earlier.

I am allergic to some foods (avocados, pecans, etc.) and have an anaphylactic reaction to sulfites, so I think that contributes to my anxiety about it!

@Silva: same--she's had almost all of it by now, at 8 months, for the same reason. Only exception is shellfish (and honey) but she hasn't had hardly any animals yet because we don't cook meat at home.

Early. We only waited on honey.
I didn't want to be worried that she'd eat a stray peanut so I introduced them in a controlled environment first. Now if MIL feeds her garbage I don't have to freak out about both the junk food and a potential allergic reaction.

Eggs at 9.5 months, peanuts (peanut butter) at almost 11 months. I wasn't worried at all about the egg, but I did put a little peanut butter on her lips to make sure she didn't react before I gave her a bunch.

I gave her peanuts at 7.5 months. I think she had crab cakes around then too? Eggs at 6.5 along with yogurt and cheese. We've given her everything but honey. Our ped. Said to go for it, and the new research I've read says there is no benefit to waiting.
We don't have any allergies in our family, I would probably have been more cautious if we did (like one thing at a time).

My LO (13 mo) has had eggs (1st @ 12 mo), but not peanuts or shellfish. I'm so nervous about introducing them, as I know several LOs personally who have allergies to those things and have heard scary stories from the parents. Honestly, I think I am going to introduce my daughter to peanuts while sitting in the ER parking lot. Maybe that's over the top, but it will give me piece of mind. I was actually thinking of doing it this weekend. I may do shrimp the following week. My ped said it is fine to introduce them now. He also said that I could try rubbing the food on her skin first... he felt that if really allergic, they would likely show a contact reaction... I don't know if he's right about that, I haven't researched that. I admit, I did try that with eggs, peanuts, and shrimp and she didn't have any reaction.

I'm wondering this too. My husband has a tree nut allergy (mild) so we are waiting a while on those but I feel like I should introduce shellfish and peanut butter soon. I'm scared though! LO is 16.5 months.
