LO was not very interested in eating solids and we didn't push her. I offered her cereal and purees everyday and if she didn't want it, we would stop. She also advised us to stay away from rice cereal, apparently it can cause constipation in breast fed babies. She recommended oatmeal or barley. DS loves the oatmeal I have been giving him every night. We're planning on waiting until 6 months unless she starts indicating earlier that she's ready. So far she definitely watches me while I eat, but she doesn't try to grab any food from me. She is sleeping through the night as an exclusively formula fed baby. So far she's had sweet potatoes, avocados, bananas, rice cereal, &amp; peas. Do what you think is best. C was up to eating quite a bit of formula a day, so I thought it safe to try solids with her. We noticed at around 5 months he was draining the bottles, literally drinking the bottles dry. We called our ped and were told we could start some solids then, because it wasn't advised to move up to the 6 month version until they were truly 6 months. So, that's why we introduced at 5 months.</p> <p>eta: At the end of the day, the opinions and studies vary so widely, I don't really think any one opinion is the right one on this subject. The risk of obescity increased for early solids eaters especially for formula fed babies. We started solids at 5.5 months because he showed a strong interest in them. Otherwise I would have waited until 6 months or later.
