We did what @BadgerMom: stated. I think it was closer to 10 months for us when he started leaving ounces in the bottle, and we went to 6 oz. bottles during the day. At that time I also was making an effort to offer 3 meals a day.

L kept increasing her formula intake (even though she was eating 3+ meals a day) until we switched to cow milk. She was up to 45 oz by the time we stopped

This isn't so much an issue for us because LO isn't into solids yet (she's 8 mo too). But my *plan* was/is to offer as much solids as LO wants. I pick what she eats and when. She decides how much she wants. I presume when she starts consuming more solids she'll start taking less formula.

We let LO lead. Once we really stared solids in earnest, he stopped finishing his 8oz bottles. He started regularly leaving 1-2oz in the bottles so now we only offer 6oz and usually he's happy with that. If he still acted hungry after the 6oz, I would give him another ounce or two.

Before solids we were making his bottles up one at a time as needed. It was no big deal because he usually downed at 8oz bottle every time. After he stopped finishing those bottles we were wasting a lot of formula in a day. So now I make up 24oz of formula in the morning and fill the bottles throughout the day. I seem to be able to better adjust to his needs that way without wasting a ton.

I just feed until they don't want it. I never have limited. So with my 8 month old, I give him purées until he's disinterested. Yesterday that meant he ate two stage 2 containers at lunch and 1 1/2 at dinner. Same with bottles. Gradually, they will take less and eat more solids. For him, he has slowly reduced his ounces of formula a day.

My 8 month old takes 4 7-8 oz bottles a day. He gets solids 2x a day, more as a snack rather than a real meal. Yesterday, he refused to finish all but his last bottle. I wonder if he's ready to taper down on his formula intake. I still feed him purees or super soft foods only. He has no interest in finger foods whatsoever (I put it in front of him and he has no idea what to do with the food).
So, do I amp up the quantity and variety of purees I'm giving him, in order to compensate for the smaller amount of formula he's taking? So far I've just been giving him set amounts of solids, and I wonder if I should just keep feeding him until he stops eating himself (rather than me limiting how much he gets).
When did your LO taper down on bottle feeds? Did you increase solids as a result?
