When we sleep trained my son at 5 months we gave him a lovey (like others have said, one of the little A&A ones). At that point he had no interest in it so we'd put him in the crib with his head on it to try to get him attached to it. He's now 19 months and he still has no interest in it. At about a year we put some stuffed animals in his crib for him to play with while he was falling asleep, and now he's got half a dozen things in there.

We co-sleep so there's always "stuff" everywhere, but she was in her merlin magic sleep suit till recently (9 mo). She could have rolled but didn't really till now, so I didn't worry about her face being covered. And even now I watch her, she always allows herself to breath.

We gave my daughter a lovey at 6 months when we sleep trained. I just gave my son a lovey yesterday (at 5.5 months) since we swaddle weaned and transitioned to a sleep sack.

N got his first lovey around 6 months. He loves his taggie blanket. Not at almost 3 his crib looks like it is throwing a crazy party. 😂

E started with a lovey at 9 months. We got him an A&A security blanket. Now at 18 months he is starting to have a party in his crib.

DS loves his A+A muslin swaddles when he is in his car seat (either attached to the stroller or driving in the car); even more so since he started teething over a month ago. He loves hugging and chewing on them. He also has a Lamaze moose toy that goes everywhere with him, and he holds onto both for his naps on the go. I won't be comfortable letting him have either one in the crib for a long time. He is 5 months old, and is able to soothe himself back to sleep without any sleep aid about 50% of the time. The rest of the time, we go get him since it's clear he's hungry. Since he can self-soothe, I'm reluctant to introduce anything, even knowing he can roll now. We'll revisit this when he's closer to a year.

I think we introduced an A&A lovie around 8 months. He wasn't that interested in it until later I think. Around 11 months he got pretty attached to it and now at 15 months he sleeps with that lovie, a teddy bear AND a small stuffed dog. He holds them ALL at the same time.

Our LO is 6 months and has a lovey that I'll let her use when I'm in the room with her, but otherwise I'm not comfortable with anything blanket yet for at least a few more months. She is completely mobile so I think the risk is low but I think the value is low compared to the risk.

We gave her a small stuffed animal as a lovey when we sleep trained at 4 months. It's too small for her to suffocate on plus she's in a Merlin suit that prevents her from rolling over onto it. I don't know when we'll feel safe introducing blankets and larger stuffed animals, but definitely not before 6 months.

My son has always had a monkey in his crib that plays music and recently (almost 7 months), I've caught him snuggling with it. He's actually been able to turn the music on himself a handful of times (it starts when you squeeze the stomach). He has also always had an A+A swaddle blanket with him because he likes to put fabric in his mouth (it calms him down instantly).

I think around that age we started giving her little a&a security blankies- it's a little Muslim square, maybe a square foot- and really thin, so even folded or bunched up you could easily breath through it. She started sleeping with an angel deal lovey by maybe 9 months?

By this winter (18 months or so) she had a bunch of her stuffed animals and babies, and a few warm blankets thrown in there. :silly:

My youngest is almost 6 months old, she's a cuddler, she loves it. We have caught her several times using her pants as a blanket by her face. First time freaked me out, now I just know to only use sleepers not 2 pieces or she wiggles out and uses them to snuggle. When do you think it is okay to introduce a security blanket (think A&A security blanket?)
