Charlie started doing an ok job of feeding himself at 12 months with a spoon. We gave him a fork at 15 months? And chopsticks at 27 months.

I think I had to give him a spoon when we were eating at about 10 months. He only became successful in getting the food in his mouth at around 13 months. He still eats off of his bib now though.

I have a spoon thief so we let her try to feed herself when she does get a hold of it. It's messy but she has fun.

I always try to feed her myself, but she'll usually steal the spoon from me.

I give LO a spoon now (at 10 months) but there's not much accomplished except a mess at this point. She doesn't really seem to have the coordination yet. So she just uses it as a drumstick.

We let our LO feed himself with a spoon at around 14 or 15 months. He wasn't very good at it (so messy!) but we let him practice anyway. Now he's almost 2 and he's really good at feeding himself with a spoon with all kinds of foods, except soup or anything liquidy. It's NICE to be able to plop down his bowl of food and just let him feed himself!!!
