Around 2.5 she realized she could climb in and out of the crib and it was all over, but the transition was pretty easy. We didn't have any problems at all, and for a really long time he stayed in it like it was a crib. Then my crazy husband starting telling him to get us if he needed to potty in the middle of the night. A few (non potty related) 5am wakeups later, we put a door knob lock on, lol. And now he's back to sleeping beautifully. A furniture store was having a good sale on twin beds and we needed to prep the baby's room anyways. Never had an issue with the transition! I didn't want to switch until she started climbing out. She never did, but then seemed ready and wanted a "big girl" bed so we just converted her crib into the toddler bed. My daughter's crib was side carred to our bed (so she wasn't fully enclosed actually) until 15 months. Then we started to night wean, so I detached it. It is set up as a toddler bed two feet away from ours. He got a new bed as his birthday gift. He just looked huge in his crib with his 3ft 5in. I'm afraid to move him because he sleeps well in the crib! He climbed out a few times so we put the mattress right on the floor rather than switch him. We don't plan to move him until he starts to climb out. Cribs are great! My 4 and half month old loves his crib, though we don't use it all night yet... He sleeps in the bassinet until 4 am and then we move him in his room in his crib until 7 or 8. He sleeps great but my husband is nervous to get him out of our room until he's 6 months. Bedtime was taking 1-2 hours! It miraculously solved our problems! DD2 is 21m and bedtime is taking up to a hour. She won't sleep till 9pm and is up for the day at 5am. I'm exhausted, want my evenings back and she has got to get more overnight sleep than 8 hours?!! Thinking about converting her crib this weekend! Wish me luck!
