We started by just turning it down a little, and then she started asking to put it on bird sounds instead of static (we use an old smartphone with a sleep app). I think as long as they go to bed before us, we'll use them to block out DH and I's evening puttering, and if one wakes up and squaks it helps prevent the other waking. Our house is really open, so we'll probably use them indefinitely.</p> <p>DS has an ipod of water sound in addition to his dohm, and I think we'll phase that out once they are in a groove of sttn more soundly, but aren't in a hurry. I'm considering getting a white noise machine for our room for the winter, since it would use less energy than running a fan faced away from us. </p> <p>I live in the city so there is just a lot of noise around, so I would use it for LO for as long as we can. Our one son has some major sleeping issues and he is wide awake long after everyone else. He usually reads, but sometimes I can hear him talking to himself and the white noise is so he doesn't wake up his brother, or us.
