I realized she was a slow weight gainer by the 2 month check up and was so worried at first (I forgot the stats). I just assumed she would be a bigger baby because she was a big newborn. She was 8.10 lbs at birth and was a little less at discharged at 8.6lbs. Then at her 4 month checkup the scales showed she only gained a little over a pound in 2 months. At her most recent 6 m checkup, she was 15 lbs (30% or 40%) for weight but her pediatrician wasn't concerned because she is on the curve and reaching lots of milestones. I fear this might get worse though, she is so active and hates eating solids.

@swedishfish: At 3 months, I noticed he wasn't sizing up in clothes. Took him to the pediatrician, and he had only gained 1 oz in a whole month. My supply had seriously taken a hit, and I also think he had a poor latch from the getgo. The clothes were my only hint, because he was happy and meeting his milestones.

He's now gaining pretty well since we've been feeding 6 oz bottles and giving him solids.

@swedishfish: at her previous checkups, where is your LO in their percentiles? Our LO has some pretty major feeding issues and dropped from 50 to 38 to 28 and now 26% in weight and is 88% in height and the Ped says we're doing fine with weight gain. The issue we're trying to work in is eating while she's awake (right now she will only dream feed even during the day). We've had weeks where LO didn't break 19 oz of BM a day for an entire week and although it stresses me out she's always gained at least something when we go back to the dr.

Between 6 months and 9 months when we were constantly at the doctors for stuff and he kept having terrible bowel movements. He literally plummeted gaining maybe a few ounces a month while eating everything he could.

Yeah we also seriously tapered off around six months. LO was starting to be more active so she burned a lot more calories. We just had her 1 year appt and she's only in the 15th percentile for weight but she's healthy and developmentally ahead so doc isn't worried a bit.

At 5-6 months lo's weight gain slowed significantly. She gained about 1 lb every 2 months from 6-12 months old. However, she was eating well, happy, and developmentally on track, so no one was concerned. I'd talk to your dr if you're really worried, especially if there are past weight problems, but it can be pretty normal for things to slow at that age.

R is 5 months old and has only gained 1 ounce in 10 days. I know my supply has dropped significantly but I'm starting to be concerned especially since we supplement with formula and she's started solids. When did you notice a weight gain issue?
