Thank you everyone for the feedback! I think I'm going to wait until next month (@ her 1 year appt) and see what the doctor has to say.. I think I may pump past 1 year, but I'm still undecided.. Right now my plan is to start giving some whole milk and some breast milk when DD turns 1, then switch to all whole milk once my stash runs out and I stop pumping.. I think I make feeding more complicated than it is!

9 months, but we always combo feed breastmilk and formula. I only cut back on the formula. Her volcanic spit up episodes died down significantly so I am pretty sure we were over feeding her...so our decrease was okay at 9 months.

I didn't cut back on formula at all until 1 year. Right after she turned one, I switched her to drinking cow's milk from a sippy cup during the day, accompanied by her solid food meal or snack. At first she drank a ton of milk, but within a couple of weeks she figured out that she should eat more actual food for calories.

You shouldn't cut back until 1 year. The majority of their nutrients should come from breast milk/formula until their first birthday. At that point if you want to introduce cows milk (you don't have to) then an increase in solids would need to happen. Babies will not let themselves starve, they will eat if they get hungry.

I've noticed at about 10.5 months F started naturally drinking less & eating more solids. I was sending 12oz to daycare and he wasn't finishing. Now I send 10oz and he drinks it all. He also eats more solids & drinks water. He has cut back night time nursing on his own as well.

My plan is to slowly introduce cows milk for daycare right around his first birthday and then nurse on demand when we're home together. I think your daughter may pick up on eating solids when you cut back on breast milk.

I offered water and snacks (in addition to the 2 or 3 meals) and gradually decreased the amount of breastmilk in her bottles. It was around 11 months.

I've been slow on the solids too so she still gets mostly BM during the day and nurses on demand when I get home. She's almost 11 months.

We still nurse on demand. At 16 mths P is currently eating as much as a teenage boy as I like to put it & is still nursing the same amount.

It's totally normal to have a slow progression into solids..... we started solids at around 10 months but it was really about 13-14 mths that P was eating any real meals & only recently that she's eating snacks and "full" meals.

I would think that as your lo gets bigger & has more needed demand she'd eat more on her own without having to cut back milk (aside from cows milk since you can't give that much a day).

I know that P will eat when she's hungry so I try not to worry about it too much. ;)

At almost 11 months, DD still drinks ~25 oz. of breast milk each day. She isn't that into solids, but I think it's because we feed her milk on demand and offer solids at set meal times throughout the day. I plan on introducing cows milk in a month, but I know she can't drink -25 oz. of that.. So when did you actively cut back how much milk your LO drank? Feeding baffles me..
