LO is 3 and has been in his twin bed just over a year. We still have his rail up because he is an active sleeper and I often find him sleeping right up against the rail. He has slept in beds without the rail and usually falls out at night. I guess we will keep it a little while longer.

We never had rails. She'd been in a twin since 26 months.

we took it off at 2 1/2, we've never had any issues with her falling out of bed when she was sleeping with us (which is too frequent) and she's never had any issues of falling out since.

I waited about a year (didn't use rails but used pool noodles).
after that:
DS never fell out of the bed
DD randomly falls out once a month!

We took the front of the crib off at 25 months, but had a mesh netting on it so she couldn't fall out. Then at 2.5 we moved her to a queen bed. It isn't against a wall and we don't have any rails up for her. So far good.

We never had rails. DS's twin bed is very low to the ground though. He fell out the first two nights (onto his old crib mattress that I put next to the bed to catch him) and one random night and that's it. He's been sleeping in it for 2 years now!

When did you remove bed rails from your kiddos bed? My DD is almost 3, and has been in a bed for 1 year now. Right now it's pushed against a wall, and has a 'rail' on the other side (Amazon added). Obviously, I'll leave it up as long as necessary since I would never want her to get hurt rolling out - but i'm not sure how to tell when it's time to remove, with the exception of taking it off and seeing if she falls out. She can get in/out of bed herself. I'm thinking of removing it because 1) looks better without 2) harder to make bed up 3) as my stomach gets larger it's harder for me to maneuver out of her bed after she falls asleep (I lay with her until she falls asleep...)

If I did take them out I could do some transition helpers like pool noodles under sheets or lining floor with pillows?
