Age 1. After we found it around his neck at nap time. Apparently you are supposed to take them down when they can sit up!!!!

We just removed ours last weekend, DS is 14.5 months. It was past time. She loved turned it on and off, and watching the projection/listening to the music. We took it down the day she pulled off one of the hanging stuffed animals.

We replaced it with a Fisher Price aquarium I found at a consignment shop and it has been AMAZING this week. We're able to put her in her crib now for naps and bedtime, and she just turns it on and watches it and then goes to sleep.

Ours hangs from the ceiling and we just shortened the string that hangs it when she started standing in there at 8 months. She's 15 mo now and still really likes watching her mobile and there is no way she could ever reach it.

@erinbaderin: DD never really noticed it, either. I probably could have kept it up until she was 2 as well.

@wrkbrk: Oh that stinks! DD's mobile was purely decorative. It was little hedgehogs and somehow that became her nursery theme. I think now that she is over the bug I may put it back!

@SweetiePie: I think I know that one. It is a good idea to have the removable arm.

He was, like, 2? He never showed much interest in it and I ordered it from Etsy and it was so cute that I kept it up as decoration.

We had the tiny love one where you can remove the arm and keep the "base" that plays music.
I want to say we got rid of the arm around 7/8 months and kept the base to play music until he was maybe a year? So hard to remember!

Took it away at 6 months because I was going to sleep train and didn't want to use it anymore when putting her to sleep even though she never fell asleep to it. I read that it was better to have minimal sleep associations (and I thought that would be better for travel and sleeping in other places) and things that were I guess distracting. She probably would be pulling at it now though if it was still in there and she's 8 months old. Mine wasn't fancy, just animals and music.

Oddly, the instructions that came with it said remove it at 5 months, but gave no reason why.

DD is 10.5 months and we removed her mobile a couple of nights ago after we had to change the sheet twice while dealing with a stomach bug. Easier to get the mattress in andnout without it! I know you are supposed to remove it by the time they start standing but she couldn't reach it while standing so we kept it in. Just curious when and why other people removed their mobiles.
