My almost 3 year old includes "Baby Bear" when listing the members of our family. At some point this year I'll probably start limiting his adventures out of the house but I would let her keep him in her bed as long as she wants. She actually has a different animal for preschool naps. He lives at school and only comes home to be washed.

I slept with "Bubbles" the teddy bear until I was like 9 and had him until I did a major purge of our basement last year at age 31! He was so gross.

Never :)
'Figgy' the cat went to daycare but stayed home once he transitioned to preschool (age 2.9 here). He goes to bed with Figgy every night and she comes along for long car rides and vacations.

He can have it as long as he wants! It goes to school for rest time, but otherwise never leaves the house.

Whenever they're ready. They both adore their Angel Dear loveys. DS #1 takes one to school everyday and on the weekends, he brings all of them downstairs. He found the duplicates and now sleeps with three bunnies at night. DS #2 loves his. He's not into pacifiers, so he bites and holds his lovey. My mom got him some different loveys from his brother's bunnies to make them his own.

I'm 30 and still have my lovey. So I would never take it from my kid.

My kids just naturally gave it up around age 5

In your case I would just tell her she can have her lovey but it has to stay in her bed - I wouldn't ever take it from them completely

I have no intention of retiring a lovey until they outgrow it on their own. I guess I don't see the harm in it??

Following.... I'm ashamed to admit that I still have my baby blanket  I refuse to say how old I am

But it appears my DD is following in my footsteps

My son is 5 and still sleeps with his. He doesn't take it out of the house though. If it isn't a problem, I would just let her keep doing it. If it is a problem (daycare policy or something), then try to explain that she can have it at home but it's no longer allowed in certain places.

What age do you think it's time to retire lovey? Right now our almost 4 year old takes it to daycare with her, but is only supposed to use it at naps and bedtime. When she's upset she does ask for it. I think its abotu time to start retiring the blanket, but DH thinks it's not a big deal. When did you/do you plan to retire the lovey?
