I would also take paint and put it on the tray let them play with it then take paper and kind of transfer it to the paper, it turned out very cute! It was a lot of doodling and hand prints as first. As she got older, they started gluing different things on paper, like cotton balls and popsicle sticks. </p> <p>I don't think it is too early! I think these things are very important to start early and it seems to make a difference once they start writing letters and numbers for real -- since these crafts work on fine motor skills -- so I am told by my friends with older kids who have been there done that. </p> <p>And of course it helps them learn their colors, too! For my in law's anniversary, I had her make them a little scribble drawing with a crayon. She was surprisingly good at it, I would just give her different colors and tell her to put it on the paper, and she actually listened. She only tried to eat the crayon once. </p> <p>I know she's still too young and doesn't get what she's doing, I only did it so my in laws could have something special from her.
