@Coffee-lover: I don't know if have diastasis recti or not, so I won't do any ab exercises until my 6 week apt next week.

I did a 30 minute barre dvd, and skipped the abs section just to be safe. I feel better already!

I had a c section. I have been walking almost everyday since 1 week pp, and started working out this week at 6 weeks pp. I think i have diastasis recti though, so I am being careful not to work my abs out yet.

I've been doing walks around the neighborhood or in the park for a couple of weeks now, so probably since 2 weeks postpartum, but I haven't started any other workouts yet. I, too, bought a yoga video that I'd like to start, but just haven't gotten to it yet.

I was a couple of weeks PP when I did my first workout video. I had no tearing/stitches/complications, so my orders were that I could start heavier activity after a couple of weeks. I did have heavier bleeding, so I sat out a week or so and then picked it back up at 3 weeks or so PP and it was fine.

I started some walking, really light jogging, and at home exercises at 2 weeks. I went to the gym for the first time for a more intense workout yesterday just a couple days shy of 4 weeks.

If you feel like you're up to it, I think you should go for it. My midwife just said to increase activity as I could tolerate it and not do a ton of ab work until she checked me at 6 weeks. My hospital discharge instructions even said to try to do 10 min of activity 2x per day. Your yoga dvd will probably help a lot.

I started doing some SUPER light yoga at 4 weeks. I think I talked to my midwife about it at my 2 week check up. I was about 5.5 weeks when I went for my first postpartum run (slow jog). Listen to your body - if you feel uncomfortable you can always stop, and if you find you're bleeding during/after it probably means you did too much. I agree, exercise is how I stay sane!

Im five weeks postpartum, and need some sort of relief from the colic and constant crying from LO. I feel fully recovered, am not bleeding anymore, and would like to do a yoga dvd. I have my six week apt next week, so of course I could just wait until then, but I need this! When did you start exercising postpartum?
