Granted my pediatricians practice is generally lax but I felt 9 months was way to early. My theory is this - baby's are not something with a alarm that "dings" at 12 months where cows milk is suddenly OK. He's not super interested yet, so he just has a few sips throughout the day. We're going on a trip overseas at 11 months and I'd like to completely wean him by then. We're going to ask his doctor about this and whether or not we can give him cow's milk at that time.</p> <p>I know all the recommendations state that you should only feed breastmilk and/or formula until 12 months, but is that a hard rule or is it a bit flexible? When did you stop BM and/or formula and move to cow's milk? </p>
