He doesn't focus and sometimes I stop when he really doesn't seem into I, but he still hears the language which I think is huge. I actually am thinking about starting to read an adult book out loud so I'm still reading for me. I didn't always read him baby/picture books, though. At first I would sit her up on my lap and she was SUPER uninterested ... then I saw Mrs. Tricycle's post where her lo and dh were reading on their backs with the book above them ..... I tried it that way and she LOVED it. She is super focused on the pictures and coos and kicks her legs. It's seriously become my favorite thing to do with her. {She LOVES "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "Eating the Alphabet" ... At first, I think, it's more about allowing them to listen to the sound/tone/cadence of your voice.<br /> Our LO's are now four months, and we read to them at every nap and bedtime routine, as well as a couple of times throughout the day. They still pretty much just enjoy listening to the change in our vocal tones, but now they're taking interest in the pictures, too!<br /> I say go for it.
