She was sooo ready!!!<br /> She absolutely loves it and does really great.<br /> I felt a little guilty when someone here mentioned the link between diabetes and starting early. ESP since there's history on my husband's side. But I looked into it a little myself and feel better about. She's barely getting 1/2oz once a day.</p> <p>We started with roasted butternut squash, now doing carrots. He is 4.5 months and I've been letting him lick the banana i'm eating every morning for the past few days. He seemed to like the taste. Just now before his nap I gave him a few baby spoonfuls of strained carrots to see what would happen. He ate it all up! </p> <p>I think he got some in the wrong tube going down, too because I could feel/hear it rumbling a bit -- but he got it out with a few coughs. </p> <p>I started him early mainly because he's big for his age and seemed interested. Also I was bored and was super eager to see what his reaction to food would be. I'll probably let him have a tastes of veggies/fruit every day from now on, but nowhere near the size of a real baby meal. We skipped cereal entirely. She had been sitting up on her own, watching us eat, and making chewing motions for about a month, so we felt like she was ready. He suggested rice cereal but said something like mashed banana would be fine at first, as well. I have no idea when we will actually offer her a solid food.
