I had one maternity shirt & one pair of shorts during my entire pregnancy. I don't think I got them until like 25 weeks. All my shirts still fit & I used a hair tie to make my shorts a little bigger :silly: lol its so expensive & it wasn't a need so I just didn't buy much maternity stuff. I did buy a few sundresses though so I could continue to grow in them as well as wear them when I'm not pregnant.

@Mrs.Panda: most of us wear proper uniforms but in theatre or critical care you wear scrubs, I love them but as I'm doing my masters and moving around a lot I'm mainly in my uniform. Scrubs are like wearing PJs

@Snowdrop: that is so interesting. We wear scrubs here but at my hospital you can wear a dress. It's just nobody does haha. I take that back, we did have a nun who worked with us who wore a skirt and top, but that's it :silly: I got some maternity scrub pants and a button down scrub top that I wear open with a t shirt underneath. Pretty comfy!

@Mrs.Panda: yes but it is far too big round the waist for me, I should have had it taken in really. The size smaller is tight on my bum (I have a big bum and broad shoulders) so plenty of room for a baby belly
What are you going to do about your uniform? Do you wear scrubs in the US?

I never got maternity pants, I might get some next time! I started wearing maternity tops around 19 weeks, but never exclusively. It was fun experimenting and seeing which of my regular clothes fit!

Second pregnancy was in full on maternity bottoms at 8 weeks and maternity tops at 9-10.

Even though maternity clothes are comfortable at first and its fun to have them show off the slightest "bump" I would highly recommend trying to wear the clothes you have and can wear while they still fit (particularly in that 10-18 week range). By 30-32 weeks even maternity clothes start getting tight and regular clothes are way out of the option.

Hair ties and belly band from around 7wks till maybe 14, then just stretchy skirts and larger sizes of things... Finally bought actually maternity pants/tops around 20wks. I wouldn't do it differently, it all worked fine. I wear scrubs to work, though, so never really needed to look professional. With a different job I probably would have had to do maternity shopping around 12wks, but I showed really early.

A lot of you are started quite early then! I seem to be ok (at 8 weeks) during the day but in the evening the bloating is terrible. I'm tempted to buy one pair of underbelly jeans just for comfort at times like this....

Luckily I have a uniform so work clothes won't be an issue till I can't fasten my dress.
