We refused to believe them and I carried a pretty strong belief in Santa until 9 or 10. They intended for us to focus on Jesus, but we were fully capable of both. She is pushing for us to do Santa with LO &amp;I have no personal opinions on it either way!) but we always pretended we believed &amp; like we could hear him on the roof &amp; goofy stuff like that. It was so fun! My m believed until she was 12! We haven't really decided what we will do with Lo. I think we'll just vaguely go with the Santa thing &amp; then take her lead. When I was old enough to understand that other kids believed in Santa, my mom told me about Saint Nicholas and that anyone could be Santa by giving gifts to others, but that Santa was just pretend. She also told me to keep it our little secret because some kids believed he was real. I liked it being our little secret so that was cool with me. My parents didn't have a lot of money when we were younger. So when I was about 7 or 8 I wanted this particular gift. My mom kept dropping hints that maybe santa was out of it, there might be some sort of problem, etc. I was insistent that santa would find a way since i wanted it so much. </p> <p>Finally my mom had to tell me that santa wasn't real and that she and my dad just couldn't afford it. But the story did have a happy ending. My dad snatched up every overtime he could to get me the damn thing.
