I didn't officially stop drinking until our BFP, and I was about five weeks along when we found out. At social gatherings I would either nurse a drink the entire time or just had the bartender make me a watered down coke (looks just like rum &amp; coke). There were some times I wouldn't even bother and people would make comments but it didn't bother me. I had told some close family we were ttc and that I had stopped drinking, so that wasn't a problem. For other people: I told them I had boosted my exercise regimen and that I stopped drinking because of that. I also turned down most parties actually, not so much at that point to avoid the scrutiny but because I was utterly exhausted every night by 7pm. I did have to do a full weekend at the in-laws, where I would normally be drinking throughout the day. There I said I had a UTI and was on antibiotics and couldn't drink with them. I'm not suggesting drinking excessively, but within your limits. </p> <p>As for reasons to give ppl, I tell them I'd rather eat my calories than drink them, or that I've had a headache/tummy ache that seems to act up when I drink, or that I'm the dd for DH, or that I drank too much the night before so sticking to water for the night. Or you can try to order a drink ASAP and have it in your hand so they assume you're drinking even though you're not, you just order something that looks alcoholic. I'm wondering when I should stop drinking (not that I drink excessively, just an occasional beer here and there). I'm thinking of stopping now, but am a little worried about people making comments. I travel for work occasionally and have a trip at the end of this month with colleagues who love to hit the bars after work. Last time I was on a trip with these colleagues, we drank heavily.</p> <p>When did you stop drinking? Did people notice? What excuses did you use? </p>
