I kept walking until the day I went to the hospital. The night before, we took a long walk to try to get things going. I found that staying active really helped the aches and pains.

You ladies are awesome. I guess these aches and pains come with being 35 years old. I went to prenatal yoga today, and my legs feel good. Hopefully I can keep on being active if I mix in yoga and swimming, which are easier on the joints. Thanks for the inspiration and ideas!

I did my bootcamp class until 37 weeks. I am amazed at how much easier my recovery has been with this pregnancy. The baby is 11 days old and I've never felt this good this soon after a c-section.

i stopped a week or so before i delivered at 39 weeks, but if i had been having the kind of pain that you are experiencing, i would have stopped earlier. our bodies go through so much during pregnancy, i'm sorry it's been uncomfortable! is there an indoor pool somewhere that you could use that would be more gentle on your joints?

I stopped when she was diagnosed with iugr, just as a precaution, but you just have to listen to your body! Some days I'd still walk to work, and others I just knew my body wasn't up for it. You're almost there!!

I worked out until 34 weeks and then was told to stop because I was having full blown contractions. My job is also physically demanding so I was taken off work altogether. Doctor gave me the ok at 37 weeks to come off bed rest so I started swimming. Best feeling ever! I had terrible sciatica so this helped alleviate some of the pressure.

I'm impressed with the mommas that continued with crossfit. I stopped doing crossfit at like 6 weeks due to MS and exhaustion, then just never got back into it. I walked 35Km + a week though right up until the night before I delivered. Like the other suggestion, swimming is the best as it's no pressure on your joints

I worked out 3-4 times a week until about 33ish weeks... Mostly walking, Zumba weekly & the elliptical. I got tired & uncomfortable, plus the change in weather (it's freezing!) caused my motivation to plummet... Now I just bounce on the birth ball & count housework as cardio;)

I was still fine on the elliptical and bike by that time but had to stop the treadmill. At 37.5 I switched to walking, but that's because my gym membership expired. I think I would have still been ok on the elliptical. Maybe cut out the treadmill and see if that helps? It was too jarring for me.

I'm 31 weeks now and I do pilates 3X a week and go on a longish walk probably 1/2 X a week on top of that. I think its really helped with being uncomfortable! Sometimes my pubic/sciatic pain kicks in but I tell my pilates instructor and she'll adjust the work for me. I'm hoping to keep it up right til the end!

I stopped going to the gym around 37 weeks but was walking daily up to the end. I did have to stop for about a month around 26 weeks because of pelvic joint pain that was debilitating. I ended up going to the chiro to help with that and then was all better. If the pain is really bad you might want to try seeking help. I was totally out of alignment and made it way worse by trying to exercise through it.

@alphagam84: Good idea. Pools are hard to come by in Brooklyn, but my friend offered access to his in his fancy apartment building. Think I will buy a cheap maternity swimsuit online. The idea of being gravity-free is very attractive right now!

I worked out up until the day she was born, but I kept everything very safe and pregnancy friendly--lots of prenatal fitness dvds, yoga classes, and walking. I'm glad I did, because I never got too uncomfortable and it made recovery a lot easier.

Up until my blood pressure skyrocketed and I was put on bedrest. I also gained a ton of weight (half my body weight) with working out and eating healthy, but it came off within the year without much effort as well.
If you feel pain or stronger contractions (I felt crazy contractions - which I thought were muscle spasms at the time) I'd ask your doctor for advice.

@alphagam84: this was something that was always suggested :) I didn't have access to a pool but would've LOVED this, especially at the end.

I worked out right up until the end, but after 36 weeks my routine changed drastically. I had a lot of sciatic and lower back pain so I switched to walking, yoga and swimming/aqua fitness. They were much more gentle. At the end, I only felt good when I was in the water. I did yoga the day I went into labor!
