We tried different types of swaddle blankets and different swaddling techniques but she kept struggling and breaking free. I think she just preferred her arms free. Sometimes he'll fall asleep fine but like this morning woke up at 5am screaming and the only thing that calmed him down was removing the swaddle. Personally I hate the contraptions. As soon as he rolls over (once) I'm using it as an excuse to ditch it. We noticed that she slept more soundlly when she wasn't bundled. When we broke the swaddle we introduced a lovey and when we lay Libby-Jane down at night we tuck the lovey under her arm so she's holding it. We would swaddle him super tightly with the miracle blanket so he couldn't get out, so when we stopped swaddling we'd have to stand there and hold his arms down while he was falling asleep, otherwise he'd wake himself up with his hands or pull his pacifier out of his mouth. That sucked. I chose not to wean her gradually and just waited until a Friday night that I didn't care if I slept well and went cold turkey. She slept 7 hours straight that night (previously up after 4).
