Our video monitor is pretty unreliable so we have an audio monitor too and I think at this point if the video monitor broke I'd be ok with just the audio one (she is 17 mo). But I'd like to keep that a one until se is old enough both to open her bedroom door and safely walk down stairs in the dark (because our bedroom is on a different floor) and also trustworthy enough to do that. I like to check when LO actually falls asleep for nap and when she wakes up. She thinks her OK to wake clock will tell her to get up from nap like morning (we don't set it) so she'll sit there for an hour staring at it.
