I will be sticking with whole for the whole family. But i dont buy into the "low fat dairy" craze and don't feel like it is necessary.

Another vote for not switching. Low fat foods are super processed and fat is good for you. We also eat whole milk cheeses and yogurt.

I have a 2.75 year old here... don't plan to switch. We drink whole milk as a family so we will keep it that way. Pedi did want us to switch at 2 but we didn't.

He is in the 50% for weight and 75% for height.

After talking to our pedi about not switching he did recommend us not giving him too much milk so that he can have a balance diet though. He still gets about 3 cups a day though... he just loves his milk! :)

We won't switch at all. Low fat dairy is linked to weight gain: they use skim milk, not whole, to fatten pigs. I don't use any low fat products, ever.

This is a question that I totally forgot to ask my doctor at the 2 yo appt. But on the information sheet they give out, it mentioned to switch to 1%. DS is great on weight but doesn't drink a lot of milk at home so I think I'm going to keep it at whole milk for awhile. I also read that whole milk is more nutritious.

Our pediatrician left it up to us. We decided not to switch. I've read a lot lately about whole milk actually being much more nutritious - it's far less processed. And recent studies have actually shown people who drink whole milk (and eat whole fat dairy) tend to be thinner.

We switched from whole to 1% after her 2 year checkup. She as 60% for weight, and our doc said to just have her drink what we drink. We normally drink skim but decided I wanted her to have some fat, so we just switched as a family to 1%.

I haven't switched yet because LO 1 drinks milk very infrequently so I don't want to have 3 kinds in the fridge....lol.
Nonfat for us, Lactose free WCM for LO 2 and maybe a low fat for LO 1 that she won't drink consistently?

We're not planning on switching until she's much older. I feel like since we offer her (and she eats) a healthy diet, whole milk is fine. I'm actually pretty disappointed that we can't find whole milk very often at restaurants anymore. It's always 1 or 2% when we're out.

My pediatrician never mentioned anything about this at Los 2 year visit over 3 months ago. I'm pretty sure she was 97% for height and 76% for weight.

I read an article from the American Academy of pediatrics that recommended switching at 2. Thinking about making the switch when she runs out of milk!
