@lemondrop: YES, I like whole so much better! I have always drank whole milk as well so I really have no intention of switching LO.

Huh, I didn't even know that switching was a "thing."

I have no plans to switch, as I prefer whole milk myself. I switched for a while since my husband likes 2% better, but he doesn't drink it very often. I was pretty happy to go back to whole milk for the kiddo... sorry hubs, I'm not going back ;)

@Baby Boy Mom: Interesting, I didn't know that!

@shellio: My LO was a late walker too and I expected her to slim down between 15 months to 18 months but she actually went up in weight percentile!

My understanding is that the fat is necessary for proper brain development... we'll continue to do whole milk for a long time, especially since LO is super petite (~ 21 LBS at 21 months).

@betsyboop: They mentioned that we would talk about it at the 24 mo visit but didn't even address the milk. They weren't too worried about it yet, although he has increased his %ile in weight. He was a late walker and we figured once he was more stable and running around a lot he would slim down but that hasn't happened. I also thought whole milk was important for brain development so that's why we haven't totally switched yet.

Not until after age 2 because T is still a peanut at 18 months (20th for height, 5th for weight...as usual). Though, I know his size is because of his genes, not because of what he eats or drinks (since he has a caloric diet and eats well).

We definitely will not be feeding 2% milk (ever). Only regular full fat dairy in our home.

We just switched to 1% from whole milk at 24 months. She hasn't noticed. I like 2% but our costco only carries organic 1% so that's what we have now.

We're not going to switch. When they take the fat out of the milk, they also take out a lot of the nutrients. Our toddler actually prefers his milk more watery though so we just mix whole milk with water for him.

My daughter is 97 in height and 87 in weight and the ped didn't say anything about switching yet (19 months). I thought they were supposed to stay on whole until at least 2 because the fats help with brain development. From what I understand it's nothing to do with weight.

We haven't switched yet.. The whole family drinks whole milk (includes 2 kids ages 5yr and 2 yr). ETA the kids are thin and we figured they could use the extra fat

@shellio: Did your pediatrician bring up the option of switching to 2% at his 18 month visit? My LO is in the 90+ percentile for height so she's not super chunky at 70% weight so I'm leaning towards staying with whole milk until 24 months...

I am watching this one too... DS is 23 mos and was 90+ %ile at his 18 mo visit and still husky. We worry about it a little bit and have started cutting back on his whole milk, sometimes watering it down and sometimes just giving him the 1 or 2% that we drink. We are going to ask the ped in 3 weeks at his 2 year visit.

LO is 18 months and in the 70th percentile for weight. Today the pediatrician said if we wanted, we could switch to 2% milk since we will do that when LO turns 24 months anyway. I'm on the fence about whether or not to wait and am curious to know when you all switched!
