I ended up just keeping the infant seat in my car and would only take it out if he fell asleep. We have the Maxi Cosi Pria 70 in both of our cars now with the tiny fit. If there is a next time around, I won't be using an infant seat. In DH's car we just switched last week at 12.5m because Little M reached the height limit on his infant seat. When our LO was brand new she napped at restaurants, while running errands, etc in her carseat. Even now at 6.5 months she falls asleep on the way home some days and I bring her inside and let her finish her catnap. My DD is 5.5 months and we probably won't switch it out until 7 months or so. I love the convenience of the infant car seat (not having to wake her while she's sleeping) so we're gonna keep her in there for as long as possible. Plus, the patrol officer who installed our car seats told me that the infant seat is the safest for babies, followed by rear facing convertible seat, then forward facing convertible, then booster. I usually just leave the car seat in the car and take him in and out. I think the only reason I'm hesitant is that it is nice to be able to take the whole seat out when he falls asleep. We already have the convertible car seats, I'm just not sure when to start using them. When did you make the switch? </p>
