we never used one either.

I think it depends on your child. Are they a mover? Mine wasn't. She's been sleeping in a full since she was about 2.5 years old. She maybe fell off once.

We never used one. His bed is super low to the ground and after a month or so as a toddler bed, we converted it to a full. He fell off maybe once. And one other time he kind of slid out of bed which was pretty funny to see because he was half on, half off.

We have hardwood floors and no rug in the kids' room, so we still have the bedrail on my oldest girl's bed. She'll be 4 this summer. She rolls right to the edge so I'm kind of afraid to take it off.

We haven't taken it off of my 4.5 yo sons bed yet and we even rented one when we recently went on vacation. He tends to roll around a lot and I would be afraid he would fall off.

My almost 5 year old still has one on it! He's ina full too! We haven't had a reason to take it off. His brother will need a rail when he moves to a bed shortly so we will take it off then. He would be fine without it but he says he likes it (he tends to line his stuffies up on it).

My 20 month old has been sleeping on the bottom of her sister's bunk bed for a while, and she doesn't use one. I think she rolled off once, but it's carpeted, and pretty low, so it wasn't a big deal. If we had hard wood I'd probably put a thick rug underneath it.

We still have a bed rail for my 4 year old. Probably going to leave it on for awhile. She doesn't lean on it when she sleeps but I still feel better having it on there. She sleeps on a twin.

I haven't removed it for my 5 or almost 4 year old. I'm sure they would be fine without it.

@sapphire: @tinyperson: she still needs a still to get into bed, but when I check on her at night she's never leaning against it, so...I don't know!

My 4yo is in a hemnes daybed with a non-IKEA mattress (so higher than usual) and we have a pool noodle pyramid under her sheets still. DH is convinced she still needs it.

My LO just turned 2 and was in a toddler bed for a couple months and we recently switched to a twin. We don't use rails. We put them on briefly but she just climbed over it and it seemed more dangerous than not. Her bed is low to the ground and the floor is carpeted. She hasn't had problems with falling out.

My LO just turned 3 and we still have the bed rail up on her bed. I'm curious at what age kids start to not need these anymore. LO1 always had a queen bed so she was far enough in the bed she never needed one.

What age was your LO when you removed it?
