I took him 6 months ago for the first time, soon after he turned 5, and right before kindergarten started. He was a pro. I sat in the room with him, but he looked so calm and comfortable, he looked like he had been going to the dentist for years, lol. He's due for his next one next month.

My niece just went for the first time and she's 3 and a half. She did great, too.

I kinda think it would have been scarier for them if they were younger, but they have both been in preschool and learning from their classes about tooth care and all that, and I think they were mentally prepared for it by the time they got there. Plus, I don't know about my niece's office, but my son goes to a pediatric dentist, so they make it very friendly for him.

We took DS around 18 months.

He had some spotting on his teeth that I thought was from an iron supplement he was on, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't nothing more serious, which it wasn't.

We did not add DD to our dental insurance this year. We will take her when she's about 29 months (2 and a half). If she needs to go sooner we will take her but right now she still just has 10 teeth.

16 cavities!!! Ahhh that's my worst fear! We took LO at 22 months and it went really well. She sat down...opened up...and it was over really fast. Well, at first she was hesitant to open up so I had to ask her what does a lion say? (Rahr) and then she opened up for the rest of the counting.

I took DS when he was one, I noticed a spot on his front teeth and it turned out that he was born with cavities. I didn't know that was possible but it's hereditary thing, and it came from his Dad's side.

I need to schedule Maddy's appt. she refuses to let anyone brush her teeth, and all she does is suck on the toothbrush.

We went right after his second birthday. The appointment ended up being more for us than for him. The dentist really took his time to talk to us about oral development and health, and then just looked at his teeth. Owen definitely did not enjoy that part, but it was over quickly.

Our dentist recommends 18 months, which is what we did. It got DD used to being in the chair. Now that she is 4, she has been several times and is used to the environment and what is going to happen. She had her first true cleaning this year with the tools and everything. Before that, they would examine and rub her teeth down with gauze and paste since she would cry.

I plan in taking him around the 1 year mark. He's 10 months with 8 teeth. They don't do real cleanings that young; just check out how things are looking, brush them and get the kid acclimated to someone looking in their mouth.

I picked 2-3 but we plan to take her right at 2. That's what my dentist suggested when I asked him.

Hard to answer the poll because we took her at 2 which falls into two different categories!

She did great, btw. It's a very simple visit.

I was talking to my friend yesterday and she said someone she knew finally took her son to the dentist for the first time (he's 4), and they discovered 16 cavities!!

I haven't taken my daughter to the dentist yet, and planned to when she hit the 2-year mark (she just turned 25-months). I was lagging on it a little, but after hearing that story I scheduled a dentist appointment ASAP for next week.

If you have taken your LO to the dentist, how did they react? I'm really nervous how she'll do!
