I actually would have waited longer, but I was working in a correctional.facility and needed him to know that I wouldn't be responding to certain situations anymore. I never announced to my employees, just let them figure it out. I showed pretty late and they're all male so I was past 30 weeks before they started really realizing! I was expecting to have tons of appointments with both the OB and MFM, so i wanted her to be aware. We didn't tell our parents until 6/7 weeks given our history of stillborn and high risk pregnancy. I know people tell early in the event of extreme morning sickness or if their job is strenuous or dangerous to a pregnancy. I haven't been sick and just work in an office, so I can choose to tell whenever. Getting nervous about it! ETA: I am 12 weeks now and have to tell within the next 2 weeks... I have a doctors appointment in 2 weeks, and can't just go to another appointment with no explanation!
