2-3 months before her third birthday. It was a smooth transition!

She transitioned herself at 19 months. We had a daybed in her room and we found her in it one morning  number two was on the way so we went with it. Transition was easy peasy.

we kept him in the crib as long as possible because he never figured out that he could probably climb out. So we made the transition when we moved recently and he was 2 years and 9 months. Transition has been smooth too, he still waits for us in bed in the morning to come get him and stays in bed all night. not sure how long that will last because he has opened his door during the day!

Switched DD into a twin bed at 15 months. Transition was really easy. She sometimes gets out of bed to play, but way more often she just sits in bed and "reads" or plays with her stuffed animals.

@nana87: she had a million stuffed animals she HAD to sleep with and kept sleeping on the floor or falling out of the bed. She still sleeps on the floor sometimes with her floor bed, but she sleeps IN the bed a LOT more often now and doesn't tumble out near as often

At 18 months we switched from co-sleeping to a twin floor bed in his own room. We haven't had any problems with him getting up to play at night, though he does come to our room occasionally when he wakes up (middle of the night or early mornings).

18 months. We bought a mesh sidebar for the side after she fell out 3 nights in a row (over the pool noodle trick and ikea baby!).

We plan on switching her to a twin at 22 months (right before the holidays) due to sleeping arrangements at family homes and an impending kiddo who will need the crib.

We switched this month at 21 months old. We first converted his crib to a toddler bed for a couple weeks and we had no issues with that. Then the mattress we had ordered arrived, and we totally converted to full size. He's been sleeping in the big bed since Friday night and it's going really well.

He hasn't tried at all to get out of it, except one night initially he kept trying to get more books to read. But he'd be doing the same thing if we were sitting the chair in his room instead of on the bed.

@nana87: we thought we bought the conversion kit but we didn't. We spent $25 on a mesh on amazon so she can't fall out but can climb in.

@Smurfette: that's totally what I picture lo doing. when she wakes up she usually plays for awhile in her crib, so if she had full reign she'd be all over the room. and she often wakes up between 4 and 5am...

@lovehoneybee: oh gosh, waking 5-6x/night sounds miserable! I'm glad the big boy bed made such a big difference. also, that's really cute about lo pretending to be asleep!! I can picture lo doing that, lol!

@blackbird: what didn't work about the converted bed? I'm trying to decide whether to buy our crib's toddler rail, it's so expensive even with a coupon!

We took the front of the crib off at 25 months since she was climbing out. She slept fine but was waking up early and walking around her room. But luckily it only lasted a couple weeks.

At about...27 months? The toddler bed lasted a whole 3-4 weeks, maybe, before we moved to a floor bed. The converted crib wasn't working for us

Right around 24 months (give or take a month either way, I don't quite remember now). He hadn't tried to climb out yet, which is what we were waiting for, but his sleep just went from fine to terrible pretty much overnight. From STTN to waking up 5-6 times a night, for no discernable reason. After about a week I was desperate and converted the crib one day. I got new sheets and made a big deal about his new big boy bed. He STTN that night.

He's been really good about staying in his bed. He occasionally got out of bed (before he actually fell asleep). I would just poke my head in and tell him to get back into bed (although usually as soon as I would start to open the door he'd run back to bed and get under the covers and pretend to be asleep, lol!)

LO isn't able to climb out of her crib yet, but she's starting to try! She's only 17 months but I'm wondering if it's time to put a toddler rail on the crib. She's still so little though! I'm not ready for her to start playing in the motn...Though, she's made the transition at daycare from a crib to a cot so maybe it won't be so bad?

How old was your LO when s/her transitioned out of a crib?
