2.5, when we got sick of lifting him in and out of the crib. He was asserting the need for more independence, so he seemed developmentally ready, too. It went pretty well after the initial excitement of being able to get up and play with his toys wore off (after a week or so?)

@Smurfette: I found a gro clock on eBay and then used a up converter (it's from the UK). I liked the design and functions of it. Easy to use and easy for R to see the sun and stars. I didn't want to talk too much about it since t seems like every time I post about something, she does the opposite, but I highly recommend one!

@birdofafeather: which one did you get?

We moved her at 25 months. I has gone great! At first she would get out and just stand by her door waiting on us. One time she was laying on the floor after grabbing new diaper, the wipes and cream off the dresser. DH walked in and she said Dada I pooped!

My dd didn't want the converted crib so we ended up just getting a twin bed, but other than that it has almost been no big deal (hope I didn't just jinx it!)

We will try to transition just shy of age two, because we'd like to have her settled in her new room before the baby gets here.

We transitioned ds at almost 27 months. Not for any other reason than a timeline of transitions we e been trying to follow before ds2's arrival! Went smoothly!

we moved R last month when she was getting out during bedtime instead of just when she woke up. we had a crappy first 2 weeks when she all of a sudden started getting up at 545-615 where previously it was 715-730. i was exhausted. a tot clock saved us. literally, it's the only reason she gets out of bed now: the sun comes up (on the clock) and the color turns to yellow. right now, she's laying in her bed after her nap because it's still blue because i didn't turn on the clock option! :)

We just recently converted the crib to toddler bed at 27 months. It went surprisingly well. Like your LO, our son started getting really mad about being put in the crib at bedtime and was starting to climb out. We took the side off on a Friday evening so that we could have the weekend in case the transition was rough. He was super excited and went to sleep without any issues. Its been a few weeks and so far so good. I think for us what worked is we have stuck to the same bedtime routine and we got lucky that he was just really excited about the "new" bed. No telling if that will continue.

LO is 2.5 and has figured out how to climb out of her crib. She has always loved her crib and been (mostly) happy to sleep/nap in it. But she suddenly hates it and screams about not wanting her crib any more.

I'm pretty surprised we made it this long in the crib, honestly. I'm hoping she gets through this phase and goes back to loving her crib, at least until we potty train, but if not, I'm looking for some advice on a smooth transition to the bed.

She has a convertible crib so it will be the same thing just without the 4 walls. She'll be able to get in and out of her bed on her own.

We'll need to re-baby proof her room since right now there are a few things that aren't totally safe if she were to be free to roam the room alone, which she's never done before.

Anything work or NOT work for you guys when you moved from a crib to a bed?
