We transitioned K at 2 months. I had a routine down (diaper change, lotion, dim lights, sound machine, nursing, swaddle, kiss on forehead, put down) which I followed in our room when she slept in a bassinet next to our bed (DH slept in the guest room). At the time we moved her - she was sleeping approx 9:30-4am and 4am to 7am - with 30 minute nursing sessions when she woke.

When I was ready to transition her I simply did the same routine (we moved the sound machine to her room) in her room and put her in her crib. I was terrified and cried the first night but she was a champ - she followed her same routine like nothing had changed. That was 1 week ago and it has gone great - we had one rough night but I think it was a mini growth spurt - and now she is even sleeping for longer. Since she isn't in our room anymore I am starting to move her bedtime up so DH and I get a little more us time after she goes down - I'm also hoping she'll be on an 8pm-6am (ish) sleeping schedule by the time I start work Dec 2.

I was terrified (like I said) the first night, it was a similar fear to the first night we had her home from the hospital. I was a million times better the second night.

Good Luck!!!

With my first we transitioned at 6 months and I just did the zombie walk to his room a couple times a night until he started sleeping through at around 10 months. With this kiddo we tried at 6 months but I couldn't deal with getting up more than one time max. So we tried again every few weeks until at 8 months when he finally started to sleep until 4 am.

Probably about a week after we got him home from the hospital! No one was sleeping and he was having major diaper leaks in the bassinet but not in his crib?! Weird. So our room sharing experience ended quickly.

5 days! None of us were sleeping well - he'd wake every time my husband snored, and I'd wake every time he made a little noise. Moving him to his own room was SO much better.

9.5 months, though she was in a crib in our room from much earlier. We all slept much better after we moved her. She was waking 4 times out of habit, and since she could see me, it wasn't like I could ignore her. It got to where she was big enough that she needed sleep more than food/comfort that often, so we moved her to her own room.

We moved her out of our bed and into her crib at 11.5 months. Before that, she just nursed through the night. I was not interesting in going to the other room everytime she woke up hungry (which was still a lot). Once she moved into her room, she pretty much night weaned.

We did it at 2 months when we moved from a 1br to a 2br. This changed absolutely nothing for us since DS was still waking up multiple times per night. When he was young, I would bring him into our room to nurse, then take him back to his room. As he got older, I nursed in his room. FWIW, I stopped night nursing at 1 year and would send in DH to put him back to sleep. He slept through the night starting just a few weeks after 1 year.

LO is still in our room at 3 months. I was co-bedding up until about two weeks ago when she suddenly started sleeping from midnight to 8am, so we moved her to her bassinet. Now with time change it's 11-7 so I'm thinking it might be time to go to the crib, but her noises don't bother me, and I like being able just to peek over the bed and check on her since I still freak out a little bit that she can't possibly be just sleeping that long.

At 7.5 weeks. She is a light sleeper too. I think the transition was good for her sleep. But it was and still is, work for me. When she wakes up (usually just 1x now), I go to her room, bring her back to nurse in my bed (just how I ended up preferring, and I could stay zombie-like), and then take her back to her room and put her in her crib. I've fed her in the glider in her room before, but I always feel cold and would rather be in my own bed. If I'm really tired, I just side-nurse and let her sleep the rest of the night/early morning in our bed with me.

@Foodnerd81: 1 night wake up at 6 weeks?! Damn! I know it's rough now, but that's amazing.

We moved her at 5.5 months after she made it clear she was over the cosleeper. DH would go get her and I would nurse in bed. Now we moved the glider in there, so I nurse in the glider.

We waited 'till 6 months. I think we could have probably done it much sooner, but I was too attached. She spent the first 6 - 8 weeks in a pack and play in our room, and then we moved her crib into our room so she could have more space.

The transition to her room wasn't as bad as I expected. She actually slept much better and went from waking up 3x a night to just once (around 4AM). When it was time to nurse, DH would either go get her and bring her to me, or I would nurse her in the recliner in her room. It was really so much easier than I thought it was gonna be.

I moved lo into her own room at 7 months - she was only eating once a night by then so it was much easier and I kept a recliner in there for the wake ups. I only moved LO then because she was getting disturbed by dh when he left for work/got home and having her in her own room was better. I bought a video monitor just before we transitioned so I wasn't so paranoid.

6 weeks. She was having a bad night and Dh had finally gotten her to sleep while bouncing in her room, so he put her down. Ni discussion or plan, but we slept better. At the time she was usually only doing one motn wake up and I would nurse her in there or in the glider in the living room.

She's actually a much worse sleeper now but I just go back and forth (small apt). I prefer that to having to tip toe around in our room while she is sleeping. On extra bad nights we bring her to our bed or I've slept in the bed in her room with her.

We did it at 4 months. We had tried at 3 months, but she just didn't seem to be into that. At 4 months she was moving around so much in her sleep that she was really ready for a bigger space. We live in a small apartment so going to her multiple times per night wasn't so bad. We ended up sleep training a month later.

6.5 months old when we moved to a new apartment. I still sleep in her room (at 8.5 months) if she's going through a rough patch and often end up there if she wakes up for a MOTN night feed which she does two or three nights a week still.

5.5 months. He went from the PNP in our room to the crib in his room. He had no problems with it. He still gets up 1-2 times a night to nurse. I bring him to our room and then take him back to his room. I do this because I like staying snug in my bed while he nurses.
