Schedule didn't happen til like 5 months or so...we started a loose routine (so no set times, just a general idea of how our days would go) around 6 wks. That's also when we started a bedtime routine.

Around 3.5 months we started night time routine and set bedtime. Naps were still not really set until around 6 months because he took short day naps from 4-6 months. Before that we just put him to bed for the night at a time that corresponded to our bed time.

at around 10 weeks, i tried so hard to get her on a nap schedule and it didn't work. she just takes naps when she looks tired. we started a bedtime routine then too, and she seems to like that.

We really only got on a predictable schedule at around six months when Miss A dropped down to two naps. These days we start our day between 7 and 8, nap between 10 and 12 and then 330ish and bed at anywhere between 7 and 9 depending on how tired A is. We bf on demand and again have only lately started to have a predictable feeding schedule (nurse at 8am, breakfast solids at 9, nurse before nap at 10, lunch at 1230, nurse at 2, again before nap at 330 and finally before bed).

Prior to six months we had a rough bedtime and a reasonably consistent awake time between naps but no real routine or schedule.

A lot of babies don't respond well to a routine until they're a wee bit older due to the constant development and growth spurts so don't stress and just go with it!

I never really had a set schedule! I just let him fall into his own pattern and he usually got sleepy around the same time at night. It varied of course if he was going through a growth spurt or some developmental milestone. Personally I hate being tied down to a schedule so I guess I never tried too hard. For me it was easier to follow his lead than to force him into a rigid routine!

LO is only 1 week old, and I know schedules are impossible at this point. My husband keeps asking when you're supposed to try to get them on a schedule, and I honestly have no clue! When did you start putting your LO down for the night at the same time? I'm assuming they'd have to sleep more than 2 hours at a time in the evening for this to work...
