My son is still RF at almost 4.5, but he was a preemie and I bought ERF seats, so he will be for a while. He can climb in on his own, which is great because I have an awful back.

His father now has him FF in his truck, which I don't like, but can't control. DS prefers to RF because he can put his legs up, rather than have them dangle and fall asleep.

A month or so after dd turned 2. (At that time the legal limit was 1..)

With ds the legal limit will be 2 and we'll probably do that.

We switched at 22 months so he could climb in by himself. My DH had hernia surgery and wasn't able to lift him in and out of our truck. But LO could climb up and DH could help guide him in.

She's 2.5 and still RF. She is a peanut and is nowhere near the RF limits on her carseat. When #2 arrives, I think she will enjoy RFing with the baby (and we already know that the infant seat can fit without need to turn the convertible seat), so I can see her continuing to RF for a long time.

We are 34 months and still RF. I think we may outgrow the height limit soon. She's still under 30 lbs so it'll be awhile until we outgrow weight limit. She is very content RF.

ETA: I just looked up height limit for ours and it is 49 inches?! Whoa! We won't be there for awhile. She'll be RF til she is 6!

We're at 3y2m (41" and 40lbs) and 16.5m (30" and 20 lbs) and both are RF.

No intentions of stopping as we had my DS FF while on vacation in the States and he was so unhappy. His feet kept falling asleep and he was dangling his head like crazy when he fell asleep. So as long as he doesn't hit the weight or height limit of our carseat he'll be RF.

Way before 2, maybe 18 months? I think it coincided with a long road trip and wanting him to be less cranky in the car. No regrets here. I hated installing that car seat rear facing.

2.5. We tried at 2 and he was NOT a fan of FF. I found that to be bizarre so we kept him RF for awhile. But after traveling a bunch and taking out/re-installing the car seat, we tried FF again and he tolerated it. Now, at almost 3, he loves being able to see what we see.

Still RF and she will be 4 in August. I plan on switching her then. I'm proud of how long we have made it, but some people have an attitude about it... She is happy. I do think it will help entertain the baby when we flip her around, so that's a plus.

I think this is a hello we / Internet thing to a certain extent. I DO think extended rear facing is better, and like I said I only turned DD at 2.5 because of the new baby, but almost no one I know kept their LOs RF until 2, much less later than that. I know one friend whose 2.75 yo is still RF.

It's a lot like extended breastfeeding- on here, BF until 2 isn't unusual, but when my LO weaned at 19 months we had gone longer than almost anyone I know.

Still RFing at 27 months. He'll stay that way until he outgrows the seat. He has about 8 lbs until that point so I imagine we'll be able to keep him RFing until 3.5 maybe?

@ScarletBegonia: I'm glad to not be the only one to turn early! My DS1 was 17 months; all of my foster children have started FF from the time they got to us, except for the baby (he's the only one to join us before age 1). He's 12 months, and I'm considering FF when he outgrows his infant seat (just a few pounds away). None of the larger RF seats will fit in DH's car with 3 seats across the row. It's completely legal where I live to turn them at/after age 1. I've rarely hear of RF beyond age 2...that would be really unusual where I live.
