My 2nd did potty train earlier (and I wasn't ready for it either!).
Daycare took the lead and started potty training DS1 when he was 2.5. He was fully trained by the time that he was 3 (naps and nighttime too!). For those 6 months he pretty much refused to use the potty at home, only would do it at daycare, until one day I said no more diapers at home.
DS2 started training all on his own at 18 months. Asking to sit on the potty. I was dragging my feet on training him, even though he was showing so much interest. So I really let him lead the way. A few months after turning 2 he woke up one day and said he could only wear big boy underwear and that was that. However, he still needs a diaper at nap and bedtime because the kid is a camel and refuses to cut back on fluids at bedtime. We're working on it, but I'm not really pushing it right now.

Elliot & Finn potty trained after three attempts a couple weeks before they turned three. Graham is a couple months past two and uses the potty frequently, has even pooped a couple times at home and daycare, will tell me he needs to go, etc. And I still don't want to start potty training him! It was such a battle with E & F and we had three failed attempts that I thought I wouldn't even try to potty train G until he was around 3. I feel like I probably should now since he is already doing such a good job without even having him in pull ups much less underwear, but I just don't want all the wasted stress if it's not going to happen till much later anyway. I've been thinking maybe since he has older siblings to watch he just got into it way earlier.

Did your second LO potty trainer earlier than your first?
