@Mrs. Bee: my LO naps like olive did pre-training although we usually get a longer nap in the morning. He's been falling asleep for naps on his own since 2 months so I wish nap training was the answer for us! I've heard that 6-9 months is when the 3-2 transition occurs.

@Oceanis723: Wow! Your boys transitioned early! We're they awesome nappers? I totally admire mamas with twins (or 4 LOs like you!)

I'd love to hear from others!

My oldest was only a month old when he regularly had two naps. When the twins were Born he stayed on two naps and I got the twins onto the same schedule but they had an additional cat nap. By the time the twins were 1 and my oldest was 1 and 8 months they went to one nap. Before the twins were two they had all dropped their naps completely. My little girl is ten months and only cat naps here and there so I am not reall sure about her sleeping schedule. Its very sporadic.

I was blessed with four beautiful children but cursed with four children who don't seem to need as much sleep as other kids. I think part of it is that there is three and they feed off each other and keep each other awake.

@Sammyfab: it was super duper seamless. with charlie he was just able to stay awake longer and longer between naps so we dropped one nap naturally.

with olive we nap trained at 8 months and she went from taking short naps to longer naps, and 2 naps were just perfect based on the length of her naps.

Thanks @Mrs. Bee! Was the 3-2 transition pretty seamless for Charlie and Olive? Did they drop the 3rdnap on their own or were there signs they were ready?

Olive and Charlie transitioned from 3 naps to 2 at 9 months. Charlie transitioned from 2 naps to 1 at 15.5 months. We pushed him to 1 nap at that point because he was able to stay awake longer and longer between his naps, which was pushing his bedtime later. He actually got more sleep overall with one nap than he did with two naps. It was really tough getting used to one nap for the first month though! The two breaks were great!

Just wondering when your LOs transitioned to 2 naps and then to 1 nap. :)
