I have read that most babies will transition from 3 to 2 naps between the ages of 5-8 months, and the first sign that your LO may be ready is if he/she starts to regularly fight their last nap. For us, we started the transition at about 7.5 months but we kept going back and forth between 2 and 3 until she turned 9 months of age.

Here's a great sleep chart that gives you recommended sleep/wake times at various ages, sample schedules, and average transition ages: https://docs.google.com/document/d/11GHo4keUb2TVJUlSL1kD6HQcEgaNFBmzoQoOzcpcyas/edit?hl=en&authkey=CPXE1bsO&pli=1#

My baby is six months old and takes either 2 or 3 naps a day. I've read that most babies drop the 3rd nap around now and wondering if others found that to be the case. We don't have him on a strict schedule right now but are starting to work towards one.
