Took mine awhile. They never liked purees, so we did blw. It was around 9 months that they started actually ingesting much :) They are finally 'into it' as of 11-12 months, but still don't eat as much table food as their peers I'd guess.

He loved it right away (6.5 months). Anything you give him he gobbles right up.

For us the biggest "get" was when he started eating food out of the bowl rather than dumping/flinging it everywhere (just before 11mo).

He loved it right away. I don't remember when we first started, it's been a while. But I noticed at different points that he would start doing that again. I think it is because at different times their tongue reflex and gag reflex move and change. It would take a week or two after that and then it would get better.

@lolabee - thanks! We tried squash, sweet potato, then carrots and she wasn't a huge fan. Finally went with the banana and she seems to like that better... Though still no real eating

@scg00387 - glad to hear, thanks for sharing! Hopefully in the near future she'll start getting a little more excited, I can't wait!

She is so cute! We've been doing a mix of chunky homemade purees and BLW. He was happy enough to play with stuff and maybe swallow some of it but really only seemed to "like" frozen fruit in his silicone feeder or banana. Just recently around 7.5 months he acts excited to see the tray coming and intentionally ingests significant amounts of food, so we've added a meal. I know what you mean :)

My LO is almost 7 months old and we've been doing BLW for 3 weeks now. So far she's hated sweet potatoes, squash, and carrots, but banana was a hit. Even so, she sucks on it, a piece will break off, she'll gag, then spit it out.

I know this is all normal, but I so just want her to get excited about eating! :)

How long until your LO "got it" and really started eating?
