My 4 year old knows the month and I think was able to remember that from around 3 years old but he still forgets the day. I think I just mentioned the date every time he brought up his birthday and one day he remembered the date. He has a really good memory, so I'm not sure it was really anything I did outside of just saying the date when he brought his birthday up. The same thing happened with him knowing his age. He overheard me telling people he was 2.5 and then one day just started saying he was 2.5.</p> <p>I think he knew the month earlier than the date, but like your son he has no concept of time or months, so even though he knows the date it doesn't really mean anything to him. But her teacher told me the other day that they were talking about ages and birthdays, and when asked how old she was, A told her teacher "just go ask my mom." So that's great.</p> <p>Her brother (twin, so same age) can say his birthday is in May maybe half the time he's asked, but never says the actual day. I've never thought to teach him before, since he doesn't really understand time yet. When did your child learn? Did I drop the ball? </p>
